and it slipped under my teeth

and mind you, this was the smallest post I could have,

and it broke two teeth. I spent about $3000 to get it fixed, most of which was covered by insurance but still.

now some are saying that tongue rings can contribute to really horrible heart problems because that kind of muscle trauma can cause bacteria (H. aphrophilus, I think) to get into the blood stream which can do serious heart damage

If gum disease can cause heart problems then I believe that a hole in your tongue can contribute to it also.

I've been told that too.........but it wasn't MY heart we were concerned about! :9

Seriously, I only wear the studs or bars on special occasions as I find myself constantly moving them if I keep them in. Actually caused a bad irritation undr my tongue.

7. I would get my tongue pierced, BUT...

my friends would tease me about it to no end. mainly because so many people we despise have their tongues pierced

plus, a guy having his tongue pierced is like a total giveaway that he's gay lol now i am definitely gay, and am not trying to hide it, but it could be percieved as lil bit TOOOOOOOO gay :bounce:

11. I have had one for about 6 years ...

but I rarely wear it. Right after I had it done, I was waiting on 3 conservative men - and they started asking me questions out of what seemed to be genuine curiosity. Apparently one of their sons had his pierced ... so no big deal. Unfortunately, my manager later threatened my job because one of the assholes complained about it. Typical! I don't wear it for the same reasons I don't chew gum ... I've seen too many obnoxious people with them.

I heard that if a tongue piercing goes wrong, it could sever a main artery in your tongue and cause you to bleed to death.
