He tends to be very arrogant with his guests which is counter productive to getting people to listen.

5. I think that is completely irresponsible of "dr" phil, who lost his licens

to practice due to sexual misconduct with a patient. This kid is a real person and has real feelings and now everyone in his community has seen him labelled as a potential serial killer, even if they only saw the commercial. It is even worse for him if they watched the entire show.

generally a good amount of what he says makes sense from a psych. point of view ( from several episodes I have seen) but the stuff with the kid was pretty over the top. The child obviously needs a lot of help, but I thought Dr. Phil really didn't look at the whole picture, nor did he outline what needed to happen right away. Generally a child with that many problems needs serious interventions or at least a hospital evaluation.

The main problem with Dr. Phil is his ego.

6. I checked out on of his books.....

....just to see what the big deal was about this guy. The book started with him graduating with a medical degree and making his father (a doctor himself) proud. The rest of the book Phil goes on about how poor they were and his slum of a neighborhood. I was wondering if his father was that shitty of a doctor, or was he some kind of mad scientist trying to create life in his basement? I just didn't get it. I think Phil is full of shit.
Oh yeah, and that book on losing weight (as someone posted above)? He isn't really in the most tip top shape. I guess people will but into anything.

From what I understand he is a PH.D in psychology from the University of North Texas (not exactly world reknown for their psych program). That is not a medical degree, he cannot write prescriptions or practice medicine in any way.

minister or preacher, someone trying to lead a pack with a bunch of statements like, "You should be doing this..." or "It's not right..." Please.

It just proves my theory that most people like to have someone tell them what they should be doing or how they should live their lives.

Also, please keep in mind, that he is an offshoot, if not down right owned by, Oprah. Don't even get me started on her. I know a lot of people love her, especially since she gave them all cars, but she has that preachy quality that meshes with Dr. Phil.
