I really like the guy as an individual, and he's written some great songs, but he's also released quite a lot of really mediocre stuff.

Still, Born to Run is undeniably fantastic.

Aw, she can really rock. I finally got to see her this summer.. she was amazing. I have loved her for many years. She beats out most of the current female crop of singer songwriters and she is a really good electric guitar player. And Drop the Pilot is a great rave-up.

Springsteen's the king of all hacks. His popularity in the 80's is why no-one my age or younger likes rock and roll anymore: he ruined it for everybody by turning it into bar-band cheese. If all YOU knew of rock and roll was Little Steven mugging and rolling his eyes while dressed as a gypsy lady next to a dorky looking guy in a headband who sounded like he needed more fiber in his diet, churning out the blandest, safest hackwork imaginable, you'd probably turn to techno, too.

on MTV in the 80's and what is now played on Clear Channel stations, I can totally see how someone would be utterly turned off by rock. Had I not had a father with a gigantic awesome record collection, I might have strayed the path too.
