Poll question: If baseball comes to D.C., what do you think the team should be called?

WASHINGTON - It looks as though Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig has the votes to move the Montreal Expos to D.C.

While Selig rarely makes a decision without the support of all 29 Major League Baseball team owners, he does have the 22 votes needed to move the team.

Baltimore Orioles officials say owner Peter Angelos is increasingly resigned to seeing the Expos play in Washington next year.

Baseball's relocation subcommittee could make its formal recommendation to Selig and the owners' Executive Council Thursday. They'll meet in Selig's downtown Milwaukee office to discuss the Expos' future.

USA TODAY reports no recommendation will be made Thursday.

5. I second that. That's what the team was called before.
It's a good name.

42. They've had the Senators twice
First team became the Minnesota Twins. The expansion team became the Texas Rangers who were notably owned by an asshole. They would now be a National League team so I'd like to see them as the Washington Expos, especially since very few people know what the hell 'Expo' means anyway.

16. Thankfully, he's dead.
Although, we could mount Ted & JH's heads at the main entrance.
How about Frank Howard's carcass as the flagpole on a hill (in play!) in center field?

6. Gotta be the Senators.
Lots of sports writers back then also gave them the nickname "Nationals" or "Nats".

27. Yeah, I think you're right.
I guess the original team didn't officially change its name to "Senators" till the 1950s. Apparently it finally dawned on them that they were a team called the "Nationals" in the American League.

The expansion Senators were the Senators from the beginning, when the first Senators moved to MN and became my Twins.

40. Nah. That'd be hard to fit on a uniform.
And the box scores? A big long name like that would throw the typesetting out of whack.

Besides, with the FCC on the prowl, all the sportscasters would have to refer to them as the "D.C. Gosh-darn Piece-of-Poop Mamma-jammers."

44. Washington Insiders
actually it really should be Senators.

What's up with the waterfront site? RFK was rejected because it is not "in the heart of downtown", yet it has its own Metro station and the nearest one to the S. Capitol St. site appears to be several blocks away at Navy Yard.
