Guess what.... it's a partisan form! If you're intrested in liberal/progressive politics, this is the place for you. The admins are nice, the mods do a good job, there are lots of forums for different topics, and it even looks nice!

DU is probably the opposite of freerepublic.com (whose users, aka "freepers", all came here to badmouth it). Aside from the obvious left / right contrast, I'd say that the difference is this:
DU, like the democratic party, is a big tent.
DU's forums are nicely done, whereas freerepublic looks like the html version of Compuserve ala 1989

I *love* the way Rush has given these conservatives wack jobs their "hatred" talking point. It's a clever way of spouting out a conservative ideal and try to turn it against thinking individuals. Kudos Rush! You lead your lemmings with true power!

I don't know how many people actually HATE George Bush Jr. on DU. Probably several. I've found myself hating him sometimes, though I try not to and rather focus on hating his inept, America destroying policies.

Hatred for those who seek to destroy our nation and our world aside, DU is mostly a bunch of great people ready to help answer questions on everything from books to news to recipies. There are lots of updates and discussion on current events. There are heated arguments about certain subjects (Israel, Cuba and Nader come to mind immediately).

Is it partisan? You bet! Sometimes more than I like, but it is designed for people who are Democratic leaning, and there's nothing wrong with giving us a place to hang out and discuss things.

All in all, DU is a beautiful place to hang around with your peers and discuss everything with like minded individuals. If you want a non-partisan group, you might want to check elsewhere. If you want an ultra conservative group, there's always the free republic.

If, however, you're liberal leaning and want to discuss things with like minded people of all races, creeds, persuasions and nationalities, then come on down and stay awhile!

10. Why don't we go to the freerepublic review spot and give honest

reviews? They're a bunch of people who think what they think and discuss stuff, bash groups they don't like, support groups they do, but have a pretty crappy interface.

It's a good place to hang out with other conservatives/ultra-conservatives if that's your persuasion.

and give them 2 or 3 stars, mostly for their crappy interface.
