Oprah's getting on my last nerve.........
Will she ever become a has-been we can all ridicule? Will anyone ever take her down a peg?

I'm sorry, Oprah, I can never be as noble and gracious and WONDERFUL as you, which is probably the reason you are stinking rich and I've got to work for a living. Plus I'm coming to the conclusion that most people are annoying and I am too tired to do anything that benefits those who p*ss me off. And I like to read my own books, in my own time, so THERE to forming some female-bonding book club. :puke:

errrrr........ ;)

4. I watched some of her show today since my satellite was out...
and granted I had it on captions instead of sound, but she had a lot of army guys on with some Iraqi kid that they "adopted" who went over to their side and turned in his father... his mother was killed by other Iraqis because of his betrayal, and the whole segment was engineered to make US look so good (with the kid saying that American soldiers "are good people"... "they're there to help us" etc.) and that Iraqis are bad.

I've now decided that Oprah is a shill for the WH.

6. She's been getting on my nerves for a long time
I appreciate all of the charity she does, but I do get this feeling she's doing it only to massage her own ego.

7. If you're referring to her 'giving away cars' as generous...
it was actually the automobile company who donated them, paid for tax, and registration for everyone in exchange for the free advertising.

Oprah paid zeeeeeero.

10. I like her.

Her movies and book club suggestions I am not a big fan of, but I like her more than most rich people I see on television.

I have a very good 'votes for Democrats' radar, which is of course neither here nor there, but she's cool with me. She started with nothing--she didn't grow up in a suburb, her parents weren't doctors, she grew up in the south and wanted to be on television at a time when few black folks were--and I have a lot of respect for her because of that.

She's not perfect, that's only because she's a person though.
I am pretty jealous, too. A show, magazine, television productions, and Oscar nominations....and successful at every single one (except Beloved)!! For years now! What IS that?

11. I was never addicted to Oprah...
she was in a position to do a lot of good for the poor people of her race, and she's never done shit. Instead she setup schools in Africa; the Oprah Schools for the poor. I'll be happy to see Oprah fall on her face, the sooner the better. I hope she gains her 500 pounds again, and I hope her boyfriend finds a real woman to marry and stop being Oprah's doormat. What a self-absorbed bitch she is!

15. What? She sends 5 or 6 guys to Morehouse every year...
and gives a lot of money away here...she does plenty "of good for the poor people of her race". Starting schools in Africa...I'd say THAT'S good for the poor people of her race, as Africans are... black....

I kind of don't like the implication that she SHOULD have done something for other black people--this IMO is a ridiculous double standard for wealthy African Americans. Should Barbara Walters have to help poor white children? Should Dan Rather have to pay for a whole town of kids in Texas to get college educations? I think wealthy people should help and give back, but blasting Oprah because she doesn't do "enough" (very subjective) to help black people seems harsh. She's a television personality, not a politician or anything!

12. And she stays rich because she gets Pontiac to do the work for her!
In one way, she is gracious and noble. Unfortunately, she uses those traits to cash in more money and fame. This is what we call "greed".
