Okay. What kind of metal is the handle on chinese food containers
made from?

I ask because it can be microwaved without any problem.

Do the Chinese know a secret non-sparking metal?

1. Probably the same stuff that our metal microwave rack is made out of.
Whatever it is, there should be more use of it.

2. No - you should remove it next time!
Modern microwaves arc less than old ones, but you shouldn't microwave the container with the handle.

3. I think...
.... it has less to do with the metal and more to do with the "shape" of the metal.

the circumference of the handle is significantly less than the wavelength used to heat the food

11. no, but i would bet the house there is a significant level of lead in it
anyone who thinks the chinese are following the rules and regs required by US law about heavy metal contamination in their metallic products sent to the US is insane.

they don't give a fuck about stuff like that.

i import fine chemicals from the chinese, they are deceitful little bastards who have to be watched every second you deal with them. they try to get away with everything they can and plead ignorance when they are caught.

in all my years in business there is no nation's people that i trust less than the chinese to deal honestly.

12. Do Chinese food containers all come from China?
I was under the impression that we actually made the food in Chinese restaurants here in the U.S. and put it into containers made...well, somewhere, but not necessarily in China

9. Microwaves have been built to be more tolerant of metal...
The early ones would have fits over the little staple in a tea bag. Newer models handle things like chinese-food container handles just fine.
