has law & order jumped the shark?
whoa. last night's season opener was byzantine. the cast, in addition to senator fred thompson, included mike bloomberg and ron silver, two heros of the RNC. the story was about an Iraqi-American who kills one of the abu graib guards who tortured her brother. Amidst the usual procedural stuff was all sorts of "they hate us for our freedom", "muslims are in a never-ending war", and such. thompson's character told the blonde that basically she should quit if she doesn't agree with his view of the invasion as righteous and successful.

dang, there are so few good shows on. hate to see this one consigned to the rw scrap heap.

2. contact info
Please let them know how you feel, maybe we can save our favorite show. Law and Order may be formalistic, but it has or had anyway excellent writing, stories and actors. Every other crime drama on these days relies on the gory and sensationalist.

6. I think they sometimes get hung up on using 'current news'..
as plots..sometimes it works well, like the episode years ago that was somewhat based on the Joel Steinberg case, and sometimes it falls flat.

4. Yes, I noticed that too
I love that show. It just broke my heart. Two episodes, both with political themes.

I also miss Lenny.

5. The 2nd episode was pretty bizarre as well..
about the widows of 9-11 firemen marrying their husband's best friends, breaking up their marriages. A divorced wife kills the woman her ex-fireman husband married. I don't know who they were appealing to with that one.

I wish Serena (the blond) would quit..she's an even worse actress than Harmon was.

I thought Dennis Farina was an interesting choice to replace Briscoe.
