with a magic-number of ONE, they would have to lose every game from here til the end of the season and the Marlins would have to win 'em all and then they would STILL be tied...one game playoff...

The real heartbreaker loss was last night as Schmaltz (yes, I know it is Smoltz) came in and blew the lead sooooo badly...when he doesn't have it, he REALLY doesn't have it.

Looking forward to seeing another pennant hung in the outfield in the next couple of days...

Hell he got a save last year in the playoffs with his arm almost falling off.

9. he is definitely a gamer!
I remember well after his last pitch last year saying, "That had to hurt." And then, to see him after the game not shaking hands because he couldn't lift his arm. He has made a hell of a recovery to make it to 40 saves again this year. But when he doesn't have the juice...he really gets hammered.

well, Cox must be too...at the beginning of the year there are a LOT of unknowns ON and ABOUT this team. Looks like he pulled them together...
