I have some questions about "blogs" ( and DU)

Okay so everyone loves these blogs, they actually are mentioned as if they were established reliable news sources. I don't want to sound like a fuddyduddy but SO WHAT? Who cares what this one person thinks?

I am all for free speech and the internet is a great facilitator of that but why should I care about this one particular persons impression of what I just watched? Why is their opinion so credible? Or is it just a roof under which people do as we do here on DU?

I know that the blogs have turned up stuff that the mainstream media left alone or misreported (or a member of a blog did) so you have to give them credit for that.

Last, isn't DU like a collective blog where lots of people give their views and/or supporting documentation for a point of view?

Can't I track down (for instance) kentuck or TruthisAll's or even whoisalhedges posts and read them as a blog?

I'm just asking.
