But, being close to work so that I can get a DU fix at lunch does not suck. :D Who knew how productive I could be if forced to not DU at the office?

1. personally I don't know how you all do it
I work at home mostly, so it's not an issue, except that I still have to stop and do writing and phone calls. Or is it the same? I always had an office to myself - never had the "cube" experience, since I'm a mental health prof.

I can identify so many people by their footsteps. Luckily my boss walks VERY distinctively so I know to turn off DU before she gets there. CUBE FARMS SUCK ASS! How am I'm supposed to be creatively inspired to design best-selling products in a gray cube with gray floors and gray walls and fluorescent lights and NO windows? Watch the movie Office Space and you know what my office looks like, only dirtier and darker. It's such a pit.

5. I've had an office for the past 12 years for the most part.
This is all new to me, too. At least the noisy guy next to me is out today. Thank goodness for small miracles.

11. Hey - he was told he could play the radio at a reasonable volume...
...between 9 and 11 while he's collating. :)

3. Suck? You're not lyin' - and welcome to my world...
Still: going home for lunch - that's pretty good. ...and let's not play the productivity card. I'm definitely worse thanks to this joint, and my complete lack of self-control.

7. so you are all appearing
to do ... the thing you should be doing. ;) When I was a manager, I would never have had time to DU. I was lucky I had time to eat lunch. Which is why I run my own show now, and have much less dinero. THere is always a trade-off.

you notice I am not proofing the reports I should be proofing, either. This is my lunchtime socializing I guess. :)

15. "lunchtime socializing"
just keep telling yourself that; I'm just "resting my eyes" to avoid eye-fatigue and keep my productivity high;)

18. oddly enough the research says that naps do make us more
productive, even at work. My husb. company used to have a nap room.. but it was rarely used. I used to call it "meditating."

Grey acres is the place to be. Cube living is the life for me. Walls, spreading out so far and wide. Lots of places for slackers like me to hide. (tu-du-du-duh-dump) The walls! (tu-du-du-duh-dump) The halls! (tu-du-du-duh-dump) Smokers cage! (tu-du-du-duh-dump) Postal rage! This is my job! (And I’m such a slob) Grey acres I am the-e-e-r-r-r-r-re!!!

13. Been doing it for over 5 years now.
You never get totally used to it. Hopefully you won't have a guy who eats chips with his mouth open near you, like I have.
