Question out there for my fellow nerdy DUers...

Are you currently or were you ever a member of the Golden Key Honor Society in college? I just got an e-mail inviting me to join, and I guess they are sending an invitation to my house. However the membership cost $60 (one time fee). Is it worth it? Are there any benefits to joining?

btw I do intend to go to grad school...so is it a nice resume builder?

I enjoyed it and I've even been to a few alumni events in the area here. I thought it was worth it (of course, it was a lot less to join back when I was in school in the late '80s). Congratulations on your invitation! :hi:

Maybe he will pay since I worked my ass off to even get the invite in the first place...I mean it's not like I'm asking for 60 bucks to pay for booze...

Actually...I just had the wrong major (us English people never made Golden Key--on edit -- specifically at my school. YMMV.).
But I was a member of Mortar Board, which probably has the same grad-school/resume cache (decent) and same real-world impact (minimal, unless you're active in the alumni chapter, which I'm not even sure exists around here).

I'd say if you want to join (and can spare the $60), go for it; if you don't want to join, then don't.

But honestly, it's only to put on grad school apps. I delete their emails when they come. Oh, I did get a credit card through them, which came with some little stadium chair. That was... kinda cool I guess.
