South Park is so insightful!
I'm watching "Child Abduction Is Not Funny". A brilliant satire on the fear tactics of the media.

I love South Park!

2. South Park is a guilty pleasure hubby and I
indulge in with TIVO when kiddies are snoozing! I love it!

But I will never forget leaving the movie theatre after seeing Bigger, Longer and Uncut.... We were terrified someone we knew would see us....That movie made even me blush.... laughing at the most inappropriate moments.... we are considered 'respectable'.......

3. The creators are self avowed Repugs!
I refuse to watch them anymore. I used to really like them too. Ever notice how they are always poking fun at the Hollywood elites?

4. I thought they were independent.
Where did you hear that they were bushkissers?

I love SP. The bubble that is Hollywood needs to be poked and de-aired every now and then.

5. It's the rumor that won't die on DU
Someone claims that Matt and Trey confirmed in some phantom interview that they were Pubbies when A. no one ever offers proof and B. Matt and Trey have a long history of fucking with people to the point that everything they say has to be taken with a grain of salt.

The most I can confirm is them hinting at a libertarian bent, but they come off as more of the "too cool to vote" type. Matt Stone was also in Bowling for Columbine (and contributed an anti gun cartoon that even I thought was a bit over the top), so how diehard republican can he be?

Honestly, they take swipes at Hollywood liberals, gun nuts, country singers who exploit 9/11, religious zealots, environmentalists, and pretty much every other sterotypical right wing or left wing segment.

I guess for some people it stings more when the group you're in gets its turn as a target.

Bottom line is they take the piss out of groups/people they felt are too obnoxious. Sometimes its a group you agree with. Next week they'll make fun of some right wing group.

(PS: A lot of this "SP is republican" crap came after the episode they did that seemingly defended the tobacco industry. In reality, the episode was an excercise in absurdity that went over most people's heads (including mine at first) by making ridiculous claims like there was no proof that second hand smoke is bad, etc. There was a disclaimer of sorts at the very end that made it clear it was a joke but almost everyone watching missed it)

6. I used to think they were righites, but then I thought about it...

...and decided that they were just speaking their minds. Everyone in that cartoon is made fun of. I made this revelation when I saw the time immigrants episode where they were making fun of both the "Pissed-off white-trash redneck conservative" and the "Aging hippy liberal douche". I then realised that they were just going after both political sides, and didn't pull back punches on either libs or neo-cons.

Also, Matt Stone was in a Michael Moore movie. That's gotta count for something.

9. eh I got a good sense of humor
I laughed at the liberal on Vice City radio in GTA and thought Pastor Richards was hilarious. I think Matt and Trey are libertarians, I dont mind politics of the creators of shows when I am laughing my ass off. That said, I do like more left people's shows like I love family guy, the simpsons, and Chappelle.

13. Here is your proof.
The Republican Party is also home to such vital creative artists as Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnston, Ted Nugent, David Lynch, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sylvester Stallone; Renaissance men with several hit movies and/or rock albums between them and their mulleted kin.

16. Libertarians ...

They're basically anti-political. They'll pretty much insult anything.
