I swear, the women in my family are evil
So mom and sis are visiting, where they proceed to bitch about dad - why? Because "He's spent last week buggin' people for donations to the Terry Fox run."
Mom was mad because usually they don't charge for friends to stay at the cabin, but Dad charged them a $100 donation to the fund. But my mom isn't mad because he charged them, she's mad because he didn't keep the money.
And my sister bitched because all week he was charging certain people nothing in exchange for substancial donations.
I mean WHAT A BASTARD!

Man, considering my mother used to see Terry practice up and down our street, you'd think she'd be more sympathetic.

5. Hmmm, I blame my mother's attitude
Coupled with a father rarely around. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a sob thread, butmy dad was busy building a business, so my sisters hung out with mom a little too much. She's from a working class Irish family - hence the racism.

8. Ouch, working class Irish are racist?
Maybe just in some neighborhoods. I think it can happen when different ethnicities compete and clash in close proximity.

6. your dad sounds like an awesome guy
does stuff for charity and doesn't give a toss to the nay-sayers, even if they are related.

as much as this sniping speaks about your sister and mom, I think it says mountains more about how upright and cool your dad really is.

(besides, meh, we always get a few lemons in our family. that's what sugar is for; make lemonade)

7. True, however Dad MAY be running for the BC liberals
Which are anything BUT liberal.... he's also a member of the dreaded New COnservative party. But he's not hardline, he hates privatization and is a strong advocate for the working poor.
He also has cancelled his membership numerous times.

I think dad is just torn between being "pro-eastern Canada" and being a NC.

9. Two things about Dad I'll always remember....
We were talking about aids when I was a kid. It was the 80s and he was about to make some kind of homophobic comment....suddenly he stopped. It was like he had a sudden realization speaking to his son how stupid the hate was. Then he just said never-mind. I've never heard him say a bad thing about gay peopl ever, and now despite being a NC member supports gay rights. He even employs a VERY lesbian woman, when a stupid comment was passed by my sister's husband he said "They're all just people to me."

Another time he freaked out on my sister's boyfriend for saying "Chink"

One thing about Dad is he really hates racism.

11. "donations to the Terry Fox run"
Evil personified.

Maybe your Mom just wanted to skim some of the top say 99%

and the rest to Terry.

This is a twisted tale HEyHEY

I now know to much about your Mom & Sister.
