I'm "in" tonight with the wife and kids. Wish I was out singing!! But instead I'm listening to my usual very odd mix of all different kinds of music. But that's not what this thread is about, after all.

What are YOU listening to??

:freak:

I have very random and odd tastes in music...

A few of his popular songs include: "How Long" "The Living Years" and "Silent Running"

9. Don't think I've bought a CD in three years
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 02:51 AM by hiphopnation23
Talk about "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". I'm a musician!! Trying to make a living from it!! Talk about the worst kind of paradox ever!! Shucks, I'm trying to figure out where the modern music industry is headed. What's the impetus for paying $10 or more for a CD when you can get it for free?? But hey, buy mine!!

15. I'm not sure I've ever bought a new CD
I buy used alot. They're actually doing a pretty good job of stopping downloading IMO. It's a real bitch getting all the tracks for a CD together unless it's a fairly popular one. It used to be much easier but it can still be done.

4. I'm in a rediscovering classic country thang.
I guess that makes me a purist because I can't stand "country music" since the 80's. Well, except the Dixie Chicks.

5. I have absolutely ZERO connection to
modern country. But throw on some Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Uncle Walts Band, Hank Williams Sr. and I feel at home. What's up with that? Something went horribly awry with "modern" country music.

I can even dig on Dolly Parton's new stuff. And an avid lover of all things Bonnie Raitt and John Prine.

12. YOUR guitar show?
Guess I wasn't sure you had a "guitar show" Ms. NSMA?!?!? Do Tell!!

LOOOOOOOVE Uncle Walt and all of Walter Hyatts songs. Became familiar with him while living in Austin. What a character and what incredibley beautiful songs. There was a memorial concert for him in Austin after he died that I was fortunate enough to attend and I heard songs of his that I'd never heard before. A true gift to the country music world.

I'm into the pictures tonight...

16. I'm sorry but...
her very first album is nothing short of BRILLIANT.

Of course the help she got from her then husband/producer Jeff "Mutt Lang didn't hurt. He was quite the studio wiz and gave that album a lot of sheen and shimmer. But she's just something else...

ok more pics...

yikes!!

Jeff "Mutt" Lang is a very elusive character and notoriously camera shy. Anyone got a pic?

26. The recent tribute Dolly CD is great
"Just because I'm a woman" with Dolly Parton songs redone by Alison Krauss, Melissa Etheridge, Norah Jones, Joan Osborne, Sinéad O'Connor, and Me'Shell NdegéOcello among others. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000C9JD6/102-4786996-0672941?v=glance

good good.

Right now I'm listening to "Fun for Me" by Moloko (http://www.moloko.co.uk/):

And before that I was listening to "Built like That" by Alix Olson (http://www.alixolson.com/):
