I Had a Horrible Nightmare.....:-(
I had this really awful nightmare, and I'm still shaking from the memory of it. It was one of those nightmares that brings you awake, with you screaming. Oh god, it was awful. I'm now afraid to look at windows right now.

In the nightmare, I was walking through this empty building, and I was looking for people. I walked through this vast gym. Nothing. I went through a small building. Nothing there. Nothing moved, not even the curtains on the windows. There was this tall building, and I decided to go into it. I was on the third floor, and I heard some murmurs. I walked in the direction of the murmurs, and the sound of them got louder and louder with every step I took down the dark halls.

I finally could see lights, and there were people seated at their desks, laughing and talking about the day's events. I was confused because I had been told by someone in the dream that the entire place was empty. I asked them what they were doing there, and they said I wasn't supposed to know the reason why. I mentioned that I was lost and that I didn't know how to get back to my car.

This small, petite Asian girl got up from behind her desk and led me down the dark hall to an elevator, taking me the rest of the way down. We ended up on the ground level of the parking garage, and I went directly to my car. I was afraid to drive the car because I hadn't driven in so long, and it was getting dark outside. The Asian girl smiled, and disappeared into the enroaching darkness.

I was in the car, and I reminded myself to be careful because I hadn't driven in three years. I reversed the car, but I had forgotten to lower the rearview mirror which would later prove to be dangerous. The driver's seat was too low, and I had to constantly push myself up to see over the steering wheel. It was getting darker and darker outside. I still hadn't turned on the lights, and I was on the highway by now, trying to get to the airport. All of a sudden, the gas pedal sunk down and the car was dangerously speeding up fast.

I was hyperventilating, trying to slow down the car, but it went faster and faster. I weaved in and out of traffic, trying not to hit a car. I accidentally went onto an off ramp, and the car finally slowed down to a stop underneath the highway overpass. It was so dark. I couldn't see anything, not even my own fingers. All of a sudden, a loud bang came from the windows. I was screaming, and I felt shards of glass explode everywhere, and there were fingers in the darkness trying to find me. I felt them pinch my skin, and they went up further to my throat.

I woke up screaming because it felt so real.

1. eeeks
You nearly had me screaming with that dream. I shudder!

Sounds like you might have some situation going on where you are having difficulty "seeing."

2. I hope the telling of it has made you feel better.
Maybe when you are no so fearful of facing the dream you can try to find out what it all means to you. Also ... if you are a writer, it makes for a good short story. use it. :)

3. That's a damned scary dream!
Do you have trouble going back to sleep after that kind of a dream? I had one a few nights ago and I was up all night. My brother used to have nightmares a lot and he would just go back to sleep with no problems at all after they woke him up.

7. Now that's pretty crazy
I had a dream when I was younger that I was driving...when I was like 13 or something...I had no clue what I was doing.

Have you been in a car accident before? Or did you watch a movie or TV show with a car accident the day before or discuss one with someone? That's a pretty vivid dream.

9. I had one too ..,
I dreamt I was in a new world and it was so way out of the world of today that I could barely comprehend it.

There was this great, corporate tribunal before me and they were judging me and my family.

They said. "What do you declare in your defense?"

I said, "I declare the right to my body and mind, and my own control of it!'

They said: "While your actions are con sided a crime unto the State itself, we will allow you your testimony."

I replied, humbly: "I am but a being. I consider my own self sacred, only in that respect. I subject all of my actions to careful consideration as far as its impact and potential harm to other beings of my kind. I can see no potential harm to others in respect to my thoughts or actions in this proceeding. I certainly invite any evidence to the contrary."

The State: "We have carefully considered your statement in total, but we cannot , in all conscience, understand how the potential for your thought-crime cannot be a significant danger to the people as well as yourself! Your personal actions are a clear threat!"

I then offered, sincerely: "You base your judgments on predisposed ideas based on past rhetoric. I base my defense on my own history and behavior, and thought, in response. I have not done anything in any way, that can be seen as harmful or malicious to anyone. Can you hold me accountable as a danger to society in that respect?

The State replies: No matter what you have, or have not, done in the past, we deem that your use and possession of substances that the State has determined, historically, as a threat to society at large, is not acceptable in any way, shape, or form. we now pronounce you guilty as charged and defer you to sentencing.

What did this dream person do wrong to you, me, or society at large? Do they deserve a sentence that might exceeded that of a murderer or such? This is our world now! This is how it works. These are the people who are filling the privatized jails you are paying for. Their will be so many more to follow. Our best hopes may become, by the dermination of the State, our worst criminals.

Happy with the result? Mayve you should not be?

Bad dream or good? I am not sure what to say.

Must get back to you later when I have more time.

I know a little about dream meanings.

The car is your life and where it can take you. Not necessarily where it MUST!

The third floor, sounds very much like a "third party" ie. Nader.

This dream is all about the election.

Gotta go! ~ MM

12. Um, I don't like Nader.
I just think it's one of those nightmares that can't be easily explained away. But thanks for the analysis :-)

13. Slink, you know how in the movies when someone has a nightmare
when they wake up and just shake their heads dismissively, saying "It was just a dream"?

How come they never get that right? When I wake up from a nightmare, the sense of relief upon discovering it was just a dream is almost overwhelming. I'll take a deep, life-affirming breath, sink back down into the covers gratefully, and then scoot over to my wife's side of the bed.

BTW, how are you feeling now? All better? I hope you don't have any more like that one. :scared:

How I wish I could stay!

I figured that you did not like Nader. In fact, that's what the "murmers" were probably about. Your fear, that he was going to interfere with Kerry's numbers.

21. Fraid so....
Either way, we have a hard row to hoe...Bush will just kill more of our troops for fun, and Kerry will have to try to clean up the Bush mess. Tragedy either way.
