Ah, nothing like the smell of coffee in the morning to wake me up
I pulled out my old programmable coffee machine yesterday, made some mechanical modifications to over-ride the "pull the carafe out during brewing and it won't pour all over" thingy (since I don't have the carafe for it, no matter what I put in there "looks" to the machine like the carafe is gone and the plug wouldn't disengage). Set it up to start brewing a few minutes before my alarm went off, and voila - back to my old life, when I used to wake up in the morning to a pot of coffee already brewed. Oh, how I like this machine and have missed using it. Wish I would have thought of just pulling out the stopper years ago.

S'nice!

And good morning DU! :hi:

1. Top of the morning!
My big decision today is whether I go canvassing for Kerry or stay at home and watch college football.

38 days to go. I think I know what the answer is.

2. We bought an
Espresso maker a few years ago. The first time I used it I packed it with 100% colombian Folgers. It took me three days to come down from that. But man was that some intense coffee. I'm just glad I didn't burn out, I still love that morning brew.

6. Is it hexoganal?
Cuz I'm not into non-hexoganal water, especially for coffee. I want the coffee essence - the Energy, if you will, that flows through the beans intot he psychic being that is "brewed coffee" - quantumly aligned and organized with the water molecules.

Did you know that coffee is sentient once it's brewed? It's true! And I know it's true, because skeptics haven't been able to prove that it isn't. It's becuase of the coffee being sentient that quantum reorganization becomes so essential. It's all about the Eergy. And Orgone.

4. Your old life, eh?
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 11:08 AM by Mayberry Machiavelli
1. Mom brewed your coffee which you drank while waiting for the elementary school bus.

2. You had SO/Spouse who got up earlier than you.

3. You were in the Navy, aboard the USS Rustbucket, and would get up to find freshly brewed swill from "Cookie" in the mess hall.

4. Your coffeemaker timer used to work.

Sorry if I'm goofing on any sore points, esp. #2!:o

5. No, the old life when the coffee machine's caraffe wasn't broken
I kept it for years thinking I need to replace the caraffe, and that without it the machine is useless. Until I had, finally, the brainstorm yesterday that I could just take out the damn plunger in the brewing cup (it's one of those kind in which the caraffe pushes the plunger up so coffee comes out of the machine; but you can pull the caraffe out before the machine is done brewing and pour a cup of joe, and the plunger falls down, keeping coffee from coming out until the caraffe is put back in place (or until you've stupidly kept the caraffe out long enough that the brew cup starts overflowing down the sides, cuz that hot water doesn't stop pouring into the brew cup jsut cuz you pulled the caraffe out)).

Took me four seconds to pull the damned plunger out. Could have been using that machine for years. Dammit!!

Though as a child, of course Mom always brewed the coffee. She didn't trust us to use the coffee pot, or to make it properly.
