I am teaching four courses this semester -- including three sections of freshman comp. Originally, I was supposed to teach two courses in my specialty (creative writing) and two sections of comp, but one of the specialty courses -- a senior-level fiction workshop -- was canceled due to lack of enrollment. (A course must have at least half the enrollment limit at the start of the term in order to continue.) Hopefully I will be able to teach the senior workshop in the spring, and perhaps a creative non-fiction course.
Health-wise, I have had my up-and-down days, but I have more than felt well enough to carry out my duties. My next doctor's appointment is a week from Monday.
This ia a non-tenure track position (sabbatical replacement), BTW, with the possibility of renewal. If I can ever come up for air, I need to get back on with the job search soon. I also need to start looking for another place to live; I am living in university housing this fall (rent-free for the first 2 months; this was all I could afford when I accepted the position), but I need a bigger and better and more private place and space, so I plan to move off-campus once the semester ends in December.
Meanwhile, I have 70-plus freshman comp papers to grade in the next 7-10 days. I am grading them a few a time. <<<holding my nose>>>.
Let me stop now, before I procrastinate any further. Later, Z!:)
