How much does milk cost in your area?
In Twin Cities, Pawlentydom (Minnesota):

Cub Foods (major super-market): $3.99 for one gallon of skim hormone-infested moo or $4.19 for one gallon of skim moo without the hormones. Expiration date is typically 2.1 weeks.

Any typical gas station or even that store, whose name I will change to "mal-wart" to protect their true identity while at the same time insulting them: $2.79~$3.29 for one gallon of skim hormone-infested moo. Expiration date varies from 1.0 to 1.9 weeks. (Oddly, the brand I bought was dated for 1.9 weeks later, $2.79 while other brands that expired more quickly (1.0-1.5 weeks) were $2.99 or higher.)

1. Meijer has all store-brand milk on sale today for
$3.55 a gallon, though the half-gallons were cheaper to buy two of and the expiration date was about three weeks out on them, while the gallons were older. No organic milk available, can't tell you about that -- I'm sure the store-brand stuff is full of pesticides and hormones but I'm not the one here who drinks it (can't stand moo-milk), and I can only remind the Mr. about all that stuff so many times before he closes his ears.
