Does a person have to have so many posts to *receive* PM's?

I posted this question in the "Bugs/Features" forum, but got no answer.

There is another member here--with 45 posts--that I tried to send a Private Message to but it says ""That user cannot receive private messages yet."

Is there a magic number that allows you to receive private messages?

2. Well the poster in question is my Dad, if that makes you feel any better.

I turned him onto DU and now he is starting to post some, so I thought I'd send him a PM to show him how they work, but got that stupid message instead.

I've not heard of a time period you have to go through unless it's a new rule. Perhaps you should post the question in "Ask the Administrators."

I was on a long time before I got any PMs cause it takes it while for me anyway to get to know People..especially in a different environment like a political message board with many many players like DU.

How cool you brought your dad on!

It make take a day or two but they will answer your question on "Ask the Admins"..

I did check sure to make my Dad didn't have his private message feature disabled in the Options menu, but it is set to receive.

He's in his early 60's but he has a DSL hookup, and he HATES Bush, and he loves DU now. And even though he has never posted on a messageboard before, he wanted to learn so he could post at DU!

His screen name is "In_Transit" (he's an engineer--get it? Transit?) in case you 'see' him around.

7. I know in your preferences you can mark yes or no as to whether or

not you will let other users send you private messages. Maybe his is put on "no".

8. Have him check his preferences

Make sure he has selected yes to the question about allowing others to send him private messages. I never thought there was a minimum to receive but I could be wrong.
