Need help from those who enjoy creative writing....
I'm currently applying to a post-undergrad program, and I am constructing my portfolio of writing samples.

I am looking for people who would be willing to constructively critique my writing samples, and give me your personal opinions on what, if anything, stands out to you or resonates with you in my writing. I also would like to have an idea of what areas I should polish or revise due to any literary weaknesses.

If you are willing to look at my portfolio's rough drafts and evaluate them with suggestions, please email me, or PM me, or leave a reply at this topic thread.

Your input would help me out immensely, and I am trying to get a diverse array of opinions to account for the diverse array of decision-makers who will most likely be on the Admissions Committee.

I would like to have my final portfolio ready by the first week in November.

For obvious reasons, I'm not going to post my actual writing samples on this board.

1. How many pieces would you have to critique?
I used to be an editor in a former life. I'd be willing to share my .02 with you, as long as I'm not committing to something I can't finish.

11. Umm...
... science fiction isn't my ballpark. Haven't even played any role-playing games, so I couldn't comment. :)

4. the portfolio consists of....
1.) A personal statement (1,000 words or less) - - who I am and what I feel I can contribute to the university environment

2.) Four different one-page character profiles of fictional characters and their demographic, cultural, and psychological backgrounds (I wrote four of them, and I'm going to need to pick one of those four to submit with my final portfolio)

3.) A two-page narrative of an emotionally powerful experience that had a formative influence on my life

Keep in mind that I'm looking for subjective critiques, as well (i.e. to what degree the content of my writing resonates with you), in addition to grammatical and technical criticism, of course.

7. That sounds pretty simple.
I'm game.

And grammar/syntax would only be a small part of my critique.

9. Easy-peasy....

Not like having to read and critique a novel. Cut and paste each one into a separate PM just to keep it straight, and individual pieces separated from one another.

Cheers.
