15. You're right in the path then...
It's a huge storm, if we're already getting the winds that we are. I guess I'll be staying awake a little longer than I planned tonight. Stay safe.

Right now the track has it coming right over us. Oh joy. Tomorrow is going to be so much fun, not.

20. Have you checked the News-Journal site lately?
FPL is saying if we lose power, it could take up to 3 weeks for us to get it back this time!

<snip>
Florida Power & Light, which serves 160,000 customers in Volusia County and another 40,000 in Flagler, is warning that many in the region could be without power for as long as three weeks. By contrast, most all local FPL customers had power restored within two weeks of Frances hitting.

"One challenge facing us this time is getting additional crews," said FPL spokesperson spokesman Bill Swank said. "We had 6,000 out-of-state crews after Frances. About 5,000 of those were released to help after Ivan, so we'll call outside of the Southeast for more help."

_______________

Not much going on here in Flagler County yet, just a little wind and some rain. I'm so ready for this to all be over! Stay safe everyone!

though all the way on the west side, so hopefully it will die down some before it hits here... :(

11. I'm Jealous
All we get are stupid fires, mudslides and earthquakes. I would so love a hurricane to slam into San Diego, but our ocean is too cold.

14. Crazy weather
x( There is no way that these crazy hurricanes could be causing so much havoc in Florida this year other than from global warming.

Watching TV weather forecasts tonight I am furious that one of Bushs first acts after the supreme court illegally declared him to be president was to unsign the UN Kyoto treaty that over 2000 of the worlds top scientists voted for.

These hurricanes wouldn't be happening like this if Bush :dunce: hadn't sabotaged the Kyoto treaty. Is this grounds for impeachment? Or criminal acts?

Jeb insisted Nader be put on the ballot. Then look what happened.

18. I completely agree.
But there are SO many grounds for impeachment already, this seems trivial.

I'm waiting for the power to go out, though I'm hoping to be lucky again... the news is saying already that they expect Hillsborough county to start experiencing power outages. Shit.

22. Do you live in Hillsborough county?
My 91 year old grandfather lives in Pasco county. I'm getting worried about him - I hope he's ok!

Take care all you Floridians, this year has sure been a rough one. :-(

23. Yes... Eastern Hillsborough County...
Pasco will be a bit less effected since it's more west of here, but anyone on the coast will have some problems. I think everything will be ok, unless your grandfather lives in a mobile or manufactured home... they have issued a mandatory evacuation for people who live in those, or in low lying areas.

24. He lives in a mobile home, in one of the zillions of retirement parks
that are all over the place there. I just called him, and he's doing ok so far, but he said tomorrow would probably be kinda rough. I also have family in Orlando and Daytona. Hopefully, everyone will make it through this one ok.

25. Good luck, Floridians! For us spectators tho, doesn't the weather channel
suck this time? CNN and CNBC have SUCH better coverage this time. WC stationed all their guys in the wrong place, except silly stephanie abrahms, but even she's been a snoozefest compared to her usual antics.

26. I keep switching between CNN and MSNBC's coverage.
On MSNBC Keith Olbermann has the desk and is running the coverage from all those in the field.

He's doing a great job too!

27. We're getting some pretty strong gusts here in Lakeland.
Hasn't rained a whole lot. It looks like it's gonna be a long night. This will be a hurricane season to remember. Charley and Frances crossed paths just a couple of miles away from where I live and now this one. If we make it thru the next twelve hours or so we should be OK.

28. I'll be thinking of you and all Floridians tonight.
I'm here in NC and we'll be getting plenty of rain (again) on Monday and Tuesday, but really we can't complain because we didn't take a direct hit on any of these.

Take care.
