ZeeDub's NFL Picks: Week 3
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 10:13 PM by ZombyWoof
Week 1: 11-5
Week 2: 6-10

Season: 17-15 - .531 (ouch!)

Week 3:

Falcons over Cardinals - The Cardinals are just another joke from PHX
Vikings over Bears - Pulling for the Bears, but MN is tough at home
Chiefs over Texans - Battle of the 0-2 Losers
Saints over Rams - One of those toss-ups - but the Rams are hornless.
Steelers over Dolphins - Worst Dolphins season ever?
Bengals over Ravens - Cincy has their darkest days behind them
Giants over Browns - Mediocre teams could cancel each other out
Titans over Jaguars - Not even Jeb can fix this one for Jax
Eagles over Lions - Time for Detroit's first loss
Broncos over Chargers - Painful pick, but only because Denver is at home
Packers over Colts - Last week Favre resumed his pill habit, and is back in form
Seahawks over 49ers - I can't believe Seattle has improved, but there it is
Buccaneers over Raiders - Because Gruden is due, and it's against his old team (Sunday night)
Redskins over Cowboys - Al Michaels will be caught on video sucking off Tim Russert while Candy Crowley does ugly things to donuts (Monday night)

Bye: Bills, Panthers, Patriots, Jets

1. Not too late to change your CHARGERS pick...
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 10:10 PM by Jack_Dawson
Trust me that'll be an upset tomorrow. You heard it here first.

Also, look for Win #1 from the Niners tomorrow.

It's not too late to change your picks...

Everything else looks good tho.

4. I do for ONE reason
Because if I win the office pool, I turn $5.00 into $130.00 or so. Sports is meaningless except for helping me get through the lean Bush years.

And STAY SAFE.

9. I think so
And I picked the Panthers over GB, so they are fucking with me at every turn!

But the Texans? Even the Cheaps can beat them with one bag of oxycontin tied behind their back.

Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 12:22 PM by jus_the_facts
....this week they'll be sure to lose....last week ya picked the 9ers to beat 'um and the Saints almost let 'em....Aaron Brooks is great when he's on and a horror when he's not..and he's been doin' BOTH in every game they've played with him as QB! :nopity: :D

16. If Tim Rattay wasn't hurt the 9ers would be kickin' ass.....
....he's been so goddamn underrated it makes me SICK...he was La. Tech's star QB and had the BEST stats in college football the year he graduated and then wasn't even drafted till the 7th round!!! :wtf:
Then he had to play behind Garcia...don't even get me started! :eyes: :7

17. Adrian Peterson is the NCAA all time leading rusher
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 12:44 PM by messiertom
But he did it in Division II. So, obviously, he's up against significantly easier opponents.

There's a reason he's not going to be #1 on any team's depth chart the rest of his life.

18. Tim Rattay is the second all time leadin' passer in NCAA history....
....and he did it in Division I-A...he faced Nebraska...Alabama *beat 'em twice*...Penn State...Cal...his senior year...set all time passin' record in that Nebraska game too eventhough they lost.

Did I miss your point or something?

20. What conference is La. Tech in?
I agree that Rattay is completely underrated. But I wouldn't go as far to say that he's a superstar stud and he would beat the Seahawks if he were starting.

Did Rattay graduate college or did he leave as a junior? If he had an extra year, that will skew his statistics (obviously). But if he did stay, good for him - he made the right choice that sadly many of today's young athletes do not make.

What kind of running game did La. Tech have? Many times a great college QB won't have as many passing yards as he could because the offense is more run-oriented.

21. He IS the second all time leadin' passer in NCAA HISTORY.....
....La. Tech is in the WAC conference...they had NO runnin' game...they were all passin' which explains him bein' the second all time leadin' passer in NCAA history...he did graduate from college....and BTW there was another pretty good QB that went to La. Tech...his name is Terry Bradshaw!! ;-)

27. Er, that'd be Rattay's rushing stats
Not his team's.

I never really said he's not the NCAA 2nd all time leading passer. The leading passer is still Ken Dorsey, right? And he's still backing up a starter, right?

College football is a completely different game than the NFL. Plenty of Senior Heisman winners have gone on to be drafted in the 4th through 7th rounds, or even gone undrafted. There are certain intangibles that statistics hide or cannot show.
