How much do Hummers weigh?
When I travel to work, I see signs saying "Road limit: 3 tons". At a local shopping mall (Rosedale), a parking ramp says "Weight limit: 2.5 tons".

As one ton is 2000 pounds, so how will police monitor these pavement crushing vehicles? I'm thinking your typical Hummer is close to 5 tons.

2. about 8600 for the H1 and just over 10k for the older ones
Yep, they are heavy fuckers, and I am not sure they are taxed or licensed appropriately, but, hey... who I am I?

Beats the smart-assed answer I was gonna give... okay, here it is anyway...

Everytime I get a hummmer, I feel lighter than air.

4. Probably 6,000-7,000 pounds.
I agree that these monstrosities should be obeying the weight restrictions.

8. Especially that the cost to all of us goes up when those things destroy
the pavement or parking lot structure.

Road repair, parking lot repair which equates to fewer open spaces, which leads to stores raising their prices, and so on...

Of course, none of this has happened yet. But if the sign has a maximum limit and people repeatedly go over the limit, problems will happen. Big ones.

and some change....

according to this site http://www.fuh2.com/
"Because it has a gross vehicle weight rating over 8500 lbs, the US government does not require it to meet federal fuel efficiency regulations. Hummer isn't even required to publish its fuel economy (owners indicate that they get around 10 mpg for normal use). So while our brothers and sisters are off in the Middle East risking their lives to secure America's fossil fuel future, H2 drivers are pissing away our "spoils of victory" during each trip to the grocery store."
