5. I just call 'em shoes

Shoes are the footwear you wear for casual/sport stuff, but aren't cleats (Nike, Reebok, New Balance, Adidas, Converse).

Dress shoes are those nice Nunn Bush or Bill Blass shoes you wear with a suit/tux.

Brown shoes are those shoes in between. Usually brown.

'Tennis shoes' is too long to pronounce just like 'soh-daaaah'. Man muß zuegig sein ;)

10. I don't play tennis

They've always been "sneakers" to me though I don't know the etymology of the word. Probably because they're a soft soled shoe?

"Pop" makes me giggle as does "sack" rather than "bag". One of the funnier things I ever heard was in the grocery store where I work - one of the checkers politely asked a gentleman who'd bought a pound of pecans if he'd like his nuts in a sack.
