Stay-at-home moms, I have new appreciation for you...
Especially the ones of you who open your homes to your children's friends.

I have had two ten-year-olds all weekend. Don't get me wrong--I pretty much always have my son on weekends, but he has a buddy spending the weekend with him.

Both kids are well-mannered, sweet kids, but good LORD, they have run me ragged!

A :toast: to you moms whose homes are the hubs of the neighborhood. I tell ya, I couldn't do this all of the time...one weekend a month is probably going to be all I can take! :-)

1. hear hear!
they are the foundation of our society!

my kids are all adults now, but when they were little, our house was always full... and it looked like the UN around there. every race, religion, etc. to be given the opportunity to make an impression on young lives is a gift! it should be taken seriously.

getting to know the friends of your children, giving them the space to be kids and to be comfortable has a huge impact on who your own kids turn out to be.

i can only think that it's much harder now than it was 20 years ago. we need to support these people! there are men and women in this role now and this support should be extended to all.

3. That is nice to hear. My house and yard has turned into the neighborhood
hangout for the kids since this summer.

My kids are the youngest (littlest is 3) so I need to keep an eye on them but the kids seem to like coming over even all of them are older.

I remember when I was getting married, starting law school and my sister-in-law just had a baby and was going to stay home. I thought "how boring, what will she do all day?" Now I think, what a friggin idiot I was.

4. Lol!
I'm a stay-at-home mom, but prefer to be called, CEO of the house instead - lol! I actually work for my disabled son, as his care attendent, but plan to go to real estate school in the Spring. I also have 1 other son who is in USA team swimming and a theatrical school.

5. At the risk of being flamed....
I think it's the single mothers who raise kids AND spend about 50 hours a week working and commuting, in addition, who deserve the kudos.

The stay-at-home moms deserve kudos for what they do, but it's been my observation of single mothers doing the same things with less time, less energy, and less money that instills awe in me. I don't know how they manage. Yet, their children end up quite often being happy, well-adjusted, contributing members of society. They must be doing something right (they are good examples for their kids to follow, maybe?).
