1. He absolutely should come in second.
Johann Santana has been the superior pitcher.

5. Damn, you just beat me to it!
I'd take Santana 1st & Schilling 2nd, but you could go with either and I'd really have no complaint.

7. Curt does play for the better team, though.
Gotta give the man that.

10. Hmmm, I don't know
Twins should be tough in the playoffs.

11. Twinkies have Santana.
Sox have Schilling AND Pedro, not to mention possibly the toughest lineup in the game.

And even Santana ain't gonna beat Manny every time.

12. I just meant it'll be interesting
especially when we see the 1st round matchups. The Twins could pull a big surprise, ala 1987 & 1991. They have an underrated lineup, plus Brad Radke as a #2 starter (no slouch) and solid Joe Nathan in the pen.

Yes, the Red Sox might look better on paper, but that's why the play the games...

13. True enough...
...after all, the better team hasn't won the Series since 2000.

God, I fucking hate the Yankees -- but they were totally a better team than the '01 Diamondbacks, the '02 Angels, or last year's Marlins.

15. Santana is great
I am partial to root for him, because he too is a lefty, no, not politically but the other good kind.

8. With all due respect for Curt's fine season
Johan Santana should win the AL Cy Young. He pretty much beats Curt all the way across the board. But even with all other things equal, the difference in ERA should put him over the top.

His numbers are:

20-6, 223 IP, 153 H, 53 BB, 260 SO, .193 BAA, 2.62 ERA

Curt's are:

20-6, 220.2 IP, 205 H, 31 BB, 198 SO, .243 BAA, 3.26 ERA

The only way I see Curt winning the AL Cy is if the near sighted east coast media ignore choose to ignore Santana's superior season.

14. who gives a krap..
four teams battling it out for the wildcard in the National League, three teams beating the hell out of each other for the NL West, and it's all Yankees/Red Sox all the time on this board. Why don't y'all watch some REAL baseball for a change?! :eyes:

17. Let the Yankee and Red Sox fans live in their isolated baseball world
And keep thinking that the league revolves around what happens when New York plays Boston.

Meanwhile the rest of us know that:

The best team in the league this year is from St. Louis

The best pitcher is from Minnesota

The best player is from San Francisco

The best baseball state has been California (every team has a winning record)
