Computer printer question
My wife ordered some cheapie printer cartidges for our Epson inkjet. When I installed the new color one, it is not recognized by the printer. How can I get this damn thing to work?

Thanks in advance!

1. im NOT an expert with hardware
but in my experience, if it doesnt accept something like that, its unlikely to ever accept it. Good luck!

2. What's the brand name of the cartridges?
I'm using InkTec in my Epson 1270 and never had a problem.
We have that problem occaisionally at school-are your connectors dirty?

5. I think you are screwed.
Sorry. I hope you didn't spend alot of money.
I've been using InkTec for awhile now and have noticed no difference in quality from the Epson cartridges.

6. Oh well
It was the wife's idea - she wasted the $30 or whatever. We got 2 black cartidges & 2 color. Back to Office Depot, I guess.

Thanks for the help!

3. Defective cartridge? Or non-genuine Epson part?
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 02:36 PM by HypnoToad
If it's a non-genuine Epson part, it may not print or cause other damage.

How recent a printer is it? Epson uses higher quality inks (or so they claim, but my Stylus Photo 2200 hasn't let me down yet). Generic cheapie brands use generic inks that the printer and print heads may not like (if not perform as well in terms of longevity)...

7. Call or e-mail
the place you ordered them from. I order my cheapo Epson cartridges from mrinkman.com. They guarantee their cartridges. So far I've had no problem with them.

8. Non-Epson cartridges won't work
Like HP, Epson puts a chip in the cartridge so the printer will only work with Epson brand ink.

That's why I won't buy HP, Epson or Lexmark deskjet printers.
