2. Its great isnt it
Its on my three regular music CDs on my must buy, The Rock Against Bush ones are on there too. It is a kick ass song, I agree. Can use it with anything, probably a great skateboarding tune, etc.

12. Thanks
I'll give those a look. I don't listen to as much CDs as I do MP3's but I like CD's. I have to say though I am enjoying this kind of rock more than I did.

32. What CDs have you got your eye on
High school...punk music...well there's a fine combination.

You should get the first Misfits album (Static Age)

Aaand if you can find it, Hüsker Dü "New Day Rising"

And I suppose you can throw in the new Green Day LP for good measure

19. I really have never been a big fan of punk, Ive always liked
altern rock stuff, but I've heard some good stuff lately. I heard Joe Strummer's version of the Redemption Song the other day, different from Marley's redemption song but just as beautiful.

I really have never been too much in this genre in general though, I listen to mostly altern rock, classical sounding stuff, and classic rock.

I first heard this song on my Madden 2005 football game for PS2. It plays (along with a couple of other songs) when screens or saved games are loading.

Megalomaniac by Incubus

Mass Destruction by Faithless

and, for searing social commentary, with an acerbic humor chaser

Underwear Goes Inside the Pants by Lazyboy (currently on Launch's top 100)

Enjoy! MKJ

10. Lyrics:
Don't wanna be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation under the new media.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind-fuck America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the idiot nation.
Where everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For thats enough to argue.

Well maybe I'm the faggot America.
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the idiot nation.
Where everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For thats enough to argue.

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information Age of hysteria.
It's going out to idiot America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the idiot nation.
Where everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For thats enough to argue.

16. It was interesting that they did not bleep the
"mind-fuck" lyrics in the conventional way on Letterman, they just turned the volume way down and then right back up again.

Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 06:46 PM by tjdee
I too instantly loved this song--and they seem to have matured into a honest to goodness punk band. So impressed.
Great song, great lyrics...also, very danceable. :)
Also, they were on Letterman RIGHT AFTER John Kerry. How cool is that?

Y'all can hear it/catch the video on Launch.com....I'll get the direct link....

20. Also check out citizentruth's "Dubya"
At www.citizentruth.com

Liberal media? Don't make me laugh
Objective journalism's gettin' the shaft
Since when did gettin' a blow job compare to the snow job
Of lies and more lies that you're tellin' in your job
Like you're G.I. Joe, but at the end of the day
Our troops are dyin' while you're cuttin' their pay
And where were you in 1972
AWOL by all accounts from your crew
And now you say that you're cuttin' our taxes
Fact is, you're separatin' the classes...

Great song. You can hear it at their site.

34. And let's not forget NOFX's "Idiots Are Taking Over"
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 11:12 PM by Minstrel Boy
Not new, but it kicks ass. A snip:

There’s no point for democracy when ignorance is celebrated.
Political scientist gets the same vote as some Arkansas inbred.
Majority rule, don’t work in mental institutions.
Sometimes the smallest, softest voice carries the grand, biggest
solutions.

What are we left with?
A nation of God-fearing pregnant nationalists,
Who feel it’s their duty to populate the homeland;
Pass on traditions;
How-to-get-ahead religions;
And prosperity via simpleton culture.

The idiots are taking over.
