The People's History of the United States? I've heard it's good, and would like something of that genre. Any thoughts ont he book or other recommendations?

1. It's spectacular
If you haven't read it, there is not another book you can get that would be better.

That book changed my life.

2. Sounds like it would be a worthwhile addition to my home library
I may have to shell out for the hard cover. :-)

Thanks for the input!

7. Run, do not walk, to B&N and buy that book
It truly is a classic. There's something jaw-dropping, sad, or inspiring on just about every page. It's a thousand times more exciting than any other US history text because it's about the real struggles of real people in pursuit of "the American dream", and it shows clearly where the "official" story of this country and its policies is so often at odds with what really happened.

It's a damn shame that PHOTUS isn't a required text for high school US history classes everywhere. Kids would be getting "A"s in history instead of folding paper footballs and waiting for the bell to ring.
