1. Has a cure for feline peronitis been discovered yet? I went through a
wrenching slow death of a cat because of it years ago.

9. Here's a good link for Cornell Veterinary Hospital
Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 09:26 AM by nownow
They're a research unit, they also publish a monthly 'zine:

http://www.catwatchnewsletter.com/

As far as I know, sadly, there still hasn't even been a test developed that's very reliable because any coronavirus (and there are several) returns a positive result, and some other conditions have similar symptoms.

FIP is, if I'm up on the latest (I may not be, and I'm sure someone will advise you if I'm not), still mostly a post-mortem diagnosis. They do have a nasally-applied vaccine -- you could ask your vet about that, if you have cats now and are concerned.

My sympathies for the loss of your cat, we had one die of 'dry FIP' (the slower one) at the shelter where I volunteer, several years ago. I remember what it was like. They literally didn't know he had it until after he was gone, the attending vet did a biopsy of thoracic fluids and said that was what got him. Most of the time, I think that's still the way they determine it.

3. We had our young male cat neutered the first week of August.
Why is he still going after our 13 year old female and trying to mate with her?

5. You can surgically alter one end of the cat
but the other end, the brain, still thinks he's a male. It should subside after a while. Try to keep the two separated and be sure to give the older cat plenty of love and attention for what she is going through.

6. It's mental training for you
they don't want their care to become easy for you and want to discourage buying large bags of anything that might go stale. Also the assumption is, if the container is large, the food was cheap.

32. You have no say in the matter
they run the show. They will train you slowly and surely, punishing and rewarding as necessary, until you are their complete and willing slave. That's how it's done.

8. I have 4 cats
Tino (orange and white alley) Terra (a tad ugly but the smartest of the bunch and the only worker) Cleo (young striped grey/black female)

VS

Halo (munchkin white and grey, beautiful with those little short paws)
who is constantly hissing at the other cats and must love getting her ass kicked because that is what happens when she gets all panicky.

Any suggestions on what to do with Halo? We are breaking up at least 2/3 cat fights a day. NOT serious, yet but we worry anyway.

10. How long have you had Halo?
Is this just a couple of months - if so it might be just a settling in period. You could designate a small room, if you have an extra and isolate this cat for a time. Make sure also that all the cats are getting lots of love and attention. Cats are very jealous creatures and will fight over you, more than anything else. My two do it all the time.

Also is it just a spat of hissing or does hair fly? A spat of hissing is not serious - it's like siblings arguing it goes on all the time.

14. Halo a year
Just hissing. We think it's kind of pathetic really.
They come near her she hisses. The other cats ignore the hiss because come on, shes a munchkin with those short little paws.
Of course I do believe she thinks she just sooooo much prettier then the rest of the average cats. She reminds me of my teen aged girl who also thinks it's all about her.

Cats can be more human then we ever could imagine.

13. Yes
They see directly into your soul, so much so that they will try to convert non-cat lovers to their servitude just for the fun of it. And they don't have to be yours, either.

One day I was helping a friend cat sit for her friend. And one of the cats came up and kissed me right on the lips just at the time my friend was telling me that the cat had a habit of doing it.

12. dear demnan
I was in Chicago for a week and a coworker stayed at my apartment and took care of my cat, Clancy. I have been told Clancy was quite the affectionate kitty, cuddling up to him on the couch and sleeping on his head. Clancy does not do these things with me. What gives?

15. Clancy knew that reports would go back to you
and was trying to make you jealous. That was his punishment for leaving him for a few days. You're lucky, Pad Thai once left his "punishment" under the chair by the door.

20. A cat's peak hunting hours
are between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am. They are excited that finally the night has come and they become fully awake and alive. They are at their best at about 2:30 - 4:00 am when they will attempt to waken you so they can at least try to teach you how to hunt.

if he pukes on the hard wood floor and you don't see it you might slip and fall (as I did once) and he doesn't want you to get hurt it might stop his food supply.

26. Your cat is insane with jealousy
He can't stand the idea of sharing you with someone he can neither smell nor see. You should be paying him your undivided attention. Why didn't he come running until you picked up the phone? That's what woke him up.

Use the weber grill, cats love anything cooked on charcoal.
