tech help needed re: packet loss and a web server
Could someone tell me what this is? I have been having server slow downs and trying to troubleshoot it. Today I ran some 3rd party traceroutes and this info about packet loss came back.

Does this mean that our server network card is experiencing too much congestion or is it more likely the network we are plugged into? any help would be much appreciated --Thanks.

1. How much packet loss?
And where? How many hops from the server? If it's the first hop from the server, the culprit is likely a router experiencing a heavier load than it can handle.

3. Hm.
Sounds like a network load issue. Either that, or some adjustment needs to be made in the TCP receive window (RWIN) settings on the server (this can also help with packet loss).

the amout of traffic to our server hasn't increased. Is it more likely to be a server setting or the hub our server is plugged into?

we colocate and I want to know if it something I need to do or if i need to ask to be moved to a different network hub?

Thanks so much for the info you've given me. I am looking into those RWIN settings you mentioned now.

btw - i just ran it again and now it is 28% - how high are these numbers - what is considered acceptable? this doesn't sound good to me.
