Looking for non-religous ways to spread ashes.........
My sister died last May (she overdosed) and her boys are coming here to spread her ashes at the beach. I would like to do something but not sure what (not sure if the boys have anything much planned, they are 20 and 18). I've never been to something like this before and any thoughts, advice or ideas would be great. I though I might bring some flowers to leave or put in the water if that is what they are going to do with the ashes. Thanks.

2. Have you contacted the Neptune Society?
they sometimes have boats that go out in the water, my friend did that with her father's ashes. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

3. It would be better to be out on a boat.
If they are on the beach, the ashes will just wash back in with the tide and sort of get dirty. (Plus, I don't know if the beach has laws about that.)

But out on the water, they could spread them properly.

I am sorry for your loss. I think flowers to drop in would be nice. You could also release balloons.

4. Never Release Balloons
Deflated Balloons kill wild life who try to eat it and choke. They are very dangerous to animals.

5. Oh, that's true.

6. Check regular wind patterns.
I forget which way it goes, but it's something like beach winds tend to blow out to sea in the mornings, and in to land in evenings. Maybe vice-versa. Pick the appropriate time to help be sure the ashes will go out to sea, rather than back onto the sands.

Or the idea of going a little ways out on a boat is good as well, and spread the ashes from the downwind side.

My condolences.
