Any thoughts on Velvet Revolver?
I like Kurt Weiland better with Stone Temple Pilots. He's too skinny now, and the Bowie-esque thing is so tired.

It is great to see Slash and Duff again, Duff looks better than ever, Slash looks like he's been in a time-warp for 15 years, but he still has the chops.

I was elated to see them around again, but I don't know if people will pick it up, 'cause it doesn't seem that original. Weiland will probably have to serve at least a year on his parole violations, and then they will have to get a new singer. I almost think Sebastian Bach would have been a better choice, but maybe they thought the whole band would seem like a throwback...

Anyone else want to weigh in?

1. it seems kind of blah
i thought, hey, its SLASH, this should kick ass. but it so far seems to be just another cookie-cutter rock band. but ill give them a little time, before i make my decision.

3. He's got the goods still
have you seen the new video, the overdose one?

It is so, well, 1989, with the silicon bimbettes, I was like, Weiland, man, you were part of the movement that killed this crap and now you're bringing it back???? (Not crap the music, crap the visual images)

it reminds me of Nirvana "he's the one/who likes all our pretty songs/and he likes to sing along/ and he likes to shoot his gun/but he don't know what it means/he don't know what it means"

I mean, that's the difference between grunge and hair metal, that grunge meant something, as apposed to metal which was in your face nihilistic and hedonistic at the same time, and G'N'R was the bridge between the two, whether they admit it or not, they killed it off, so it's weird, it's like they don't know where to place themselves. Supposedly everyone is clean except Weiland now, so maybe they'll be around for a while.

4. matt sorum has always been kind of just doing a job, everysince
he joined he's kind of been like furniture.

Steven Adler was my favorite Gun, and now he is pitiful, he had that stroke and he can barely talk, it's tragic.
