I just got my electricity back on this morning after being out since very early Sunday morning. I heard on the radio that in the area of Florida I live in (Polk County) that as much as 90% of the people were without power at one time. And I must say it is good to have it back. Life was very primitive without it. I probably missed air conditioning more than anything else. I was very lucky in that I didn't get a whole lot of damage except for trees down and maybe the food in the refrigerator, haven't checked that yet, want it to build up a little bit of coldness before I open it up much. I lost what was in it last time with Frances. The eye went right over us. It was calm from about 11am to 1pm Sunday and then it started all over again. This is the tird damn hurricane in six weeks to go right over us. I made out a lot better than a lot of my neighbors with houses blown apart, trees through their roofs, trees blocking both ends of their streets etc. As in most wind storms it wasn't the wind itself that did the damage but the debris that was blown around. Here's a link to a photo gallery from my local newspaper.......... It's good to be back.
