1. Maybe some scented candles would help.
Maybe your guests' cabbage farts will be an improvement.

authentic German recipe--marinated for three days, then cooked in an oven with chopped onion, carrot and celery and the strained marinade.(marinade: red wine vinegar, red wine, peppercorns, crushed juniper berries, bay leaves and onion) Yum--a sauce made with crushed gingersnaps in the juice and then strained. (had no honey cake)sweet and sour red cabbage, and noodles. No beer, but would have had some robust dark if not too lazy to go and buy some.
Husbands family came from Germany and he loves it.

After they leave here is a hint. Get some APPLE cider vinegar. Place some in bowls around the effected areas. Next get a dish towel and soak it in the Apple cv, ring it out real good. Now ,not kidding, spin the towel around over your head. IT REALLY WORKS. this works great for cigarette smoke, burnt food smell ect..
P.S. Let the bowls set out for at least 2-3 hrs, overnight if you can.
:)

8. I grow cabbage in my garden
When it is picked fresh and cooked there is NONE of that smell. I blanch it and freeze it for use in the winter.
