2. It's a dream.
It took me the longest time to train myself to use tabbed browsing, but now I could never do without it.

I can't remember the last time I saw a pop-up. I was using an IE computer the other day and I really noticed it.

And the live links deal was a nice introduction to RSS. I'm ready to get a dedicated reader now though.

Firefox rules, hard.

10. Dookus just got a honey of a bull dog. Find him in the lounge. Bulldogs
are VERY popular up here in Alaska for some reason.

4. It's great, but...
What you run into are pages where the designer didn't code for browser independence so you get a page that doesn't render properly becuse the shortsighted designer only used IE.

AvantBrowser gives you tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, etc... but it's got its hooks in IE, so it's basically InternetExplorer with Mozilla's cool features. http://www.avantbrowser.com/

8. In all my time with Firefox
I've never run into a page like that. I could see something like that happening rarely.

It would never draw me away from Firefox.

15. Since you have one of the latest versions
you go to Tools -> Extensions or Themes. In either of these windows there should be wording on the right that says get more Extensions or Themes depending under which option you click. By clicking on it, Mozilla will open a window to their page where you can get Themes and Extensions.

One Extension I would recommend would be "Tabbrowser Extensions". It's a must have IMHO. It allows you to have more tab functionality such as whether clicking a link opens in the current tab or in a new tab rather than opening a new window.

Also, I recommend:

TinyUrl Creator -> you can right click on a page and create a Tiny Url for it that's saved to the clipboard

AdBlock -> another must have. Very useful in filtering ads in websites

Diggler -> just installed it but it's very useful so far.

Themes:

I usually wait after installing a new version of Mozilla for people to update their themes. Right now, I don't see any I like except for "Smoke" which is the them I'm currently using.

22. I have to find that tinyurl creator
That would be handy.

Another one I like is Foxytunes. It integrates your winamp into the browser. Very handy!

I also use the dictionary search function and the Mozilla calendar.

9. Super
I liked Firebird, and downloaded Firefox last week. It's fantastic. Pages seem to download faster, and it's just neater and cleaner than IE and its cousin, Netscape. Take a look at the add-ins and skins. Easy as can be to download and use.

13. okay. is anyone having browser crashes on a semi regular basis though?
I am. BUT I STILL LOVE IT.
Plus the Live bookmarks. those are cool, but there's a small bug if you have them. BUT I STILL LOVE IT. No popups, never been hijacked. pretty nifty. and fast, too.

14. The speed is the thing
I've tried lots of alternative browsers through the years and none ever came close to matching IE in speed. Firefox meets and exceeds it.

I get a browser related crash every 6 months or so. Very rare.

18. you're luckier than me
this is my log: 9/26, 9/22 (2 times) 9/21, 9/19, 9/17 (2 times) 9/5 That was just firefox-I’ve had some mozilla crashes too

but they're over in no time-it's annoying though-it usually crashes when I go to post a comment, or look at a comment that opens in a small window in the upper left hand corner...

19. Have you checked the forums and all that?
That is significant instability.

What operating system do you have? How long since you last did a clean re-install?

Has it always crashed like this or is it a new phenomenon?

21. um-mozilla started crashing late last month, early this month
i Had 1.7.2 And I also had FF 0.9. When the 1.0 came out, I downloaded it to disk and while i was uninstalling .9, i also uninstalled mozilla. then i reinstalled Mozilla and installed the 1.0. i have windoze XP PRO. (No SP2). i think my computer-this OS is very unstable-i have had other issues totally unrelated to browsers, and AOHell has done some spectacular shit as has ZA's True Vector Service, Office 10.

I fill out and send (in great detail, including the URLs and the path I took to get there, as well as the error report generated by the computer) the reports via the reporting engine that appears after the crash. The last crash, I was unable to send the report for a couple days...i think it finally went out...

Two things crash the browser. one is application error, and the other is application hang. It only turns the browser off. The system does not reboot, nor do I have to reboot it to get the browser back.

last clean install? um i did TWO on Christmas (bad prompting-thanks MS) and sent it to the guys in Olympia on 2/21 of this year. i have 85% free space, regularly clean, scan and defragment. It's kind of bullshitty-but the way I look at it-I know SO MUCH MORE about computers using this gateway Profile 4 than I would know if everything ran smoothly. :) when I got it in Feb of 2003, I could not even figure out how to get the ruler back in Word!

My repuke co-worker sent it to me. We are the best of friends, and he knew I'd like it. Now, that's a good friend, who'll suck up his own political beliefs long enough to do something nice for you. Can't get him to vote for Kerry though.

you can say good-bye to pop-ups.

Sometimes you need to use Internet Explorer so that a website functions correctly, however.
