make sure you get one with a wide belt and at least 2.5 HP motor ans shocks in the bed if you plan to run.

(What I love about mine is that it has a cupholder, a bookstand, and a little "track" that lights up as I go around and shows me how far I have gone.)

2. dont buy equipment....
get an expensive pair of shoes and either walk or run. Oh, and get a sport mp3 player. You will have a great time and not spend so much on a clotheshanger and dustcollector.

3. Got mine at Sears

I'm sure I could have done better but I was too tired to look.

It's a Pro Form 350 s Cross Trainer. It came with weights too.

On sale for about $450 I think.

Good luck!

5. My suggestion is to try and hold off
until January. That is when you can find good sales on exercise equipment. I would do a search on epionons.com to see if there is any review on exercise equipment. Then you should go to different places and actually test the treadmills, check the options, etc. We bought our last one at BJ's so if you have a store like that you can get a good price on one so don't overlook that type of store. And don't overlook HSN and QVC. They usually have lots of sales on exercise equipment in January and HSN often has free shipping, plus if you order anything from the website there is no sales tax unless you live in Fla or VA where their warehouse is. Can you tell I shop from TV once in a while? :D

6. consider an elliptical machine
I can't stand walking/running on a treadmill, but I LOVE the elliptical machine. There's one called Orbitrek that is often advertised on TV and may also be sold on HSN or QVC. I agree w/ the poster who suggested waiting until January -- they always have great "New Year's Resolution" sales.

7. I've owned 2 cheap treadmills
However, they weren't cheap! Each cost around $400. They lasted only a few years. In 2001 i spent 2 grand on a really good treadmill. From: http://www.smoothfitness.com/

I love it! I prefer to walk outside, but for the winter, and rainy days, it's here.
