Anybody here like Perry Como?
He was a little before my time - somebody my parents' generation liked. I have heard him sing a few times and he had such a smooth nice voice (good looking to boot). I was thinking of getting one of his CDs but did not know which one to get. Any one that is worth recommending?

1. He was a great crooner
I don't know about CDs but when I was a kid, I loved his song, "It's Impossible."

5. Well, he had a beautiful voice and he sang so effortlessly
That was in the days when singers could sing and they did. And without the noise and movement of today's musicians. All of that to me is very distracting. I like the days of "Letters; we get Letters; lots and lots of Letters". Yes, he was very relaxed. I don't know anything about his CD's but I don't think you can go wrong with any thing you can find by him.

8. That was great!
Ole Perry was lying on the stage, crooning into the microphone, so relaxed, I guess he couldn't remain upright.

4. There's a movie -- "The Odessa File"
and Perry Como sings "A Christmas Dream" in both English and German.

I fell in love with his voice -- makes me feel like a little girl again on Christmas morning.

6. Probably a
'greatest hits of' type CD

He was very popular in his time because his manner was casual, and the singing ability appeared natural...without artifice.

No extra sound tracks, no electronic help, just a good voice and a laid-back manner.

He sold more than 100 million records over a 60-year career, with 27 of his records going gold.

'Catch a falling star'

11. He used to have a Christmas Special every year.
It was a tradition to watch it. He did a good job on Ave Maria and O Holy Night.

go to a thrift store and buy one of his records. My uncle buys all of his records at the Salvation Army and he gets them for a dollar. He has a lot of Perry Como albums.
