Catching yourself, and feeling shame.
It's raining hard here on Long Island tonight. Hence, my satellite reception is out. I was silently bitching about it to myself, but soon i felt really ashamed. There are people dying in Iraq! There are poor families that can't even afford a television! Who the fuck am i to bitch?

:(

1. You might as well serve me a dish of that humble pie.

I just got out of a meeting where all these changes on the job pissed me off. Then I saw that post of yours and I found myself thinking the exact same thing: "Who am I to bitch?"

2. One word...Haiti.
I feel so badly for those people and their families. So poor.

4. Exactly!
We get so wrapped up in our comfort, we sometimes forget what is a bigger priority.

6. I saw a feed on CNN yesterday...
of Haiti, and there was this lady with all her little ones running around amidst the devastation of Hurricane Jeanne washing her clothes and SINGING! I think many of the people we feel sorry for feel sorry for us. They see us as basically soulless and easily reeled in by materiality and propoganda.

I worked with a guy who went to Peru and visited a remote village while he was there. The people there were impoverished, but they kept asking him and his wife why they weren't smiling. My co-worker said he'd never seen happier people in his life. Some people seem like they have nothing, but they have so much more than we know.

3. You should give yourself credit for
being aware of those realizations. Far too many people don't know that they don't know.

7. I've caught myself feeling shame at my own thoughts
lately. Because they are becoming rather violent in nature. I find myself pointing the finger gun at the f*cking pundits and repugs on TV I am so filled with rage at them. Don't they understand the power they wield with this nation and the danger to us all posed by their blatant disregard for the truth. Our future is at stake! Not to mention the future of possibly the entire world. I keep wishing terrible things on them and I feel ashamed at myself for feeling that way.
