10. Its more like he's opening the door in the wall and pointing
in the right direction. Not so much a move, but hell, at least he opened the damn door.

3. We're all in it together
And Kerry WILL win!

I agree about moving left, too. The Democratic party is the center/center-right now, and we have to take it back.

4. I'm feeling the same way
very on edge lately. Reading the Big Dog's book and remembering in vivid detail how good it was before doesn't help any. I am weepy a lot.

Sigh.

6. Remember that Clinton was criticized for being being too centrist
too conservative to be a Dem. Lots of pissed off lefties during the 1992 primaries and even the election.

He wasn't the darling of the left, but he did get in power and he did do good things for the country while he was there. More good for the country than a Repuke could've done.

5. I want what I've been promised!
For decades the Republicans have been promising that if we elect Jimmy Carter, and if we elect Bill Clinton, and if we elect John Kerry, that....

We'll all be communists!

We'll all be socialists!

We'll take away everybody's property and divvy it up!

We'll all live in peace!

We'll have one world government!

The United Nations will run the world by consensus!

There will be no corporations!

Capitalism will be destroyed!

I want what I've been promised, damn it!

8. Boy do I know what you mean
I force myself to keep the news channels off but sometimes it just gets the best of me and I feel compelled to watch. Then I start getting angry at the stupidity of the tube people and the impact their words have on folks who rely on them for information.

The reality is most people don't have the kind of time in their lives that we here at DU make to stay informed. They are basing their decisions on just an infinitesimal speck of what we all know and share here. Not an excuse-but a reason for us all to work harder to get the message out.

I make an effort to talk to everyone, everywhere about the election. My friends and family are sick of me as I've pretty much developed a one track mind. I only pray that those of us "on track" will help Mr. Kerry win.

Totally agree we need to get back to an America where we expect to help each other, where we consider the common good and our rights are just not negotiable.

Peace.....

9. keep positive
read the Michael Moore e-mail/ rant if you haven't. I signed up to help with Move-on stuff and I called a TV station today to complain about one of those horrid Swiftboat ads. THe move on meet was astonishing with enthusiastic young people just out of college and others who have taken a leave of absence from their jobs. Not to mention all the folks who wanted to help. Very inspiring!

Avoiding TV is probably a good idea, too.

Hang in there Chavez and everyone else too!

23. Just check the Wall Street Journal Zogby Poll
Kerry is in the lead...remember Zogby over the last 15 years has been the most accurate of the polls

Just breathe!

21. I feel the same way, but I'm hopeful, too.
So much is at stake that it's hard to stay calm sometimes, especially giving how low-down dirty rotten those fuckers are willing to get.

Here are some of the things I tell myself when I'm freaking:

Bush is campaigning hard in states he won last time, and his margins in the states he's winning are lower than they were last time (meaning a lower number in the popular vote, even if he wins a state, and I think that would help in the PR war).

Bush has lost some support in many groups that went for him before, such as Muslim and Arab Americans, Log Cabin Republicans, Cubans in Florida, military and veterans and their families, seniors, Libertarians, etc. He will still carry some of those groups, but with smaller percentages (more votes for us or no-shows at the polls).

They can't rig every precinct, though they will try to steal. I look at my own area, heavily Republican, where Democrats got on several town councils for the first time in years in recent elections. That makes me think that Democrats' votes are being counted here. If it were in the bag for Bush, they wouldn't still be trying to suppress votes.

Huge voter registration increases all over the country. There are more Democrats than Republicans already, and Republicans have gotten much of their base out in the past and don't have as much room to grow as we do.

The huge Kerry rallies, while anecdotal evidence, show that people are energized, something we haven't seen in a long time. Those rallies will translate into votes.

If Kerry wins the Gore states (not certain but looking decent), he will only need 10 electoral votes to win -- meaning he won't need Florida or Ohio if he gets Colorado, or Missouri, or New Hampshire (looking good) plus Arkansas (for example, there are other possible combinations).

That's my personal pep talk, hope it helps. I really believe the Republicans have to steal it and steal it big to win; I don't see them winning any other way. Of course, that may happen. I'll meet you here if it does.

It will be VERY close. But Kerry will win. And we'll take control of the Senate.

I don't think the chances are as good in the House as they are in the Senate. We COULD take back the House. And Lord, would I love to see some Pubs in the House go down...particularly DeLay. :-)
