Some bank is running a series of commercials about the power of "thank you". They are shockingly bad commercials & I'm horrified each time I happen to see one.
In one a girl is asking her guy why they have been together for years and never married. He stammers out a "thank you?" and suddenly she is all happy cause he never said that to her in all those years. Ugh - this is so idiotic I can't even stand it.
The other one is where two women are in a grocery store. One lady asks the other is when she's due, or something. Lady B gets mad 'cause she's not pregnant, and the first woman stammers around and says "thank you?" Lady B gets so excited "thank you? - for meeeeee?" Ohhhh and big hug.
I tried to get a thread going on the worst advertising campaign strategy ever centered on this one, but couldn't raise much interest. Hard concept to encapsulate in a subject line, I'm afraid.
The Arby's talking oven mitt commercial make me crazy as well. I just picture a bunch of advertising types sitting around a conference table coming up with that stupid idea.
And the new McDonalds one are confusing to me, where some person is sitting alone in a room protecting their stupid chicken strips from nobody. "Step away from my chicken!" No one wants your damn chicken.
Dave Thomas must be spinning in his grave...if I ever run into the "Unofficial spokesman" I swear to god his face is going to meet the business end of a shovel.
