I find it a bit offensive that they (the person yelling about there god and such) know when your on a train and heading underground or over a bridge they have you for the next few minutes and there is very little you can do till the next stop...its like your captured and HAVE to listen to them unless you get up and try to leave and if its rush hour good luck.

I have no problem with them on the streets, well let me rephrase that...I "respect" there right to preach on the street corners all they want because I can easily cross the street and keep a safe distance from there speeches but in a closed environment like a train it seems a bit rude and out of place.

I would have more respect for them if all they did was pass out literature and leave it at that...I can read..I get the message.

You don't get my attention screaming in face, just my scorn :evilgrin:

This morning I had the most bizarre subway ride. I board the Number 3 train at Grand Army Plaza after 9 a.m. Find a seat, then settle into reading Henry James for class. I hear a woman’s voice gradually rising in volume. She is preaching the “Lord’s” word to the train car’s sleepy riders. Of course, I had forgotten the headphones for my subway evil sounds blocking device. The train stops and starts.
The words denigrating “gay devils” reach my ears. I stand up.

Me: “Excuse me, but do you mind keeping your voice down, I am trying to read.”

Preacher Lady: (screams) “I got to testify.”

Preacher lady hitches up her skirts and tells me that I am going to hell for interrupting you-know-who’s word. Two or three OTHER Christian ladies on the train start shouting at me and discussing my prospects as the Devil’s prison bitch. The last straw was a 50 something red faced man in a suit slamming his Bible towards my face.
There was only one thing I could do.

Me: “If you all don’t lower your voices and cease calling me Satan, I will have to sing show tunes.”

need to take a Biblical ass-whipping. I mean, look at the Old Testament, for Chrissakes---it's full of ass-whipping. They should dig it--or at least appreciate your adherence to the word--or at least the adherence of your foot to their pious asses.

Bible-thumpers are cool, I guess, but when ANYONE tries to corner you, become the rat and bite back. Carrying a Bible is no insurance against a well-deserved ass-whipping.

Ever run into Black Israelites? You know the brothers dressed in really tacky silver lame with big ass Stars of David? Like something out of a Mel Brooks movie? Those guys are so fucking ignorant it's almost entertaining.

Funny story: years ago my then-girlfriend and I were coming back to my house on the train and some preacher got on and started in with the fire and brimstone. He was going on and on about immorality for a few stops and of course he made with some homophobic bullshit I don't think I've ever heard before (and I've heard it all). Homosexuality is a tool of Satan to destroy The Black Family (!). My girlfriend, who was the whitest white girl EVER (blonde hair, blue eye Norse stock), couldn't take it anymore and yelled "I LOVE MY NUBIAN GODDESS!" and frenched me right in front of the guy. :D

Preacher Man looked like he jumped out of his skin and promptly got off the train at the next stop, to the applause of most people in the car. :evilgrin:

believe it's their responsibility to teach others and try to save them. Fundies believe the Bible is the unquestionable word of God. As a liberal Christian, I have a problem with both concepts. I would hope that your democratic beliefs help to offer some consideration for different life choices. Other than that, I understand your rant. Sometimes the best defense is to have your own religious tract and rant to drive them away.
