Anterior cervical fusion. Which, in English, is when they remove a damaged disc from your neck, replace it with a piece of bone from your thigh and the bone fuses with the surrounding vertabrae. You lose a little bit of mobility but my neck was so bad, I'd lost a LOT of mobility and was in constant pain (arthritic herniated disk).
So now I'm going to physical therapy to work on the surrounding muscles and regain mobility and strength in my neck and upper body. I was pretty much unable to do much exercise for some six months while the bones fused and my job is very physical so I need to get back in shape before I return (I don't have to go back until January, thank goodness).
I like the PT to a big extent and I really like my therapist - I'm just sick of having to run out of the house all the time for these appointments.
