1. Oh crap.
See, this sucks, because the Police are one of my all-time favorite bands. And both Sting and Elton have recorded utter crap for years. But if you're just judging solo careers, I'd have to go with Elton. If you're including the Police, I have to go with the Police.

Police best song ever: So Lonely
Elton best song ever: Take Me To The Pilot

3. What errant nonsense.
That honour goes to 'The King is Half Undressed' by Jellyfish.

4. Elton all the way. Sting - (Andy & Stewart) == CRAP
Sting couldn't even carry Elton's piano bench. Yeah, they've both churned out their share of crap in the last 20 years, but Elton's back catalog holds up better, IMHO.

7. I've never heard Elton talk trash about rock music
in general the way Sting tends to. He's become so unforgivably arrogant and disrespectful of his roots in recent years. I'd sooner vote for Michael Jackson.

13. Sting was going to play the HHH Metrodome in Mpls...
but they had to cancel the concert, when they realized that Sting, his band, crew and his massive ego would have crowded out all the oxygen in the stadium.

Thank Allah tragedy was averted.

8. Sting.
Elton gets really annoying after a while. That's just his style of music. Objectively, he is a very talented writer and musician. Sting is just far more pleasing to my ears. I like the jazz and reggae undertones, and the pathos of some of Sting's songs. "Fragile" brings tears to my eyes.
