Poll question: Favorite Carl Hiaasen book
This guy cracks me up. He has some pretty strange things going on in his stories, and some of the characters are pretty bizarre.
I only listed his main novels.
So...???

1. I can't pick! It's like choosing among your children...
The one I keep coming back to is "Lucky You" but the battle of the press releases in "Native Tongue" is still one of the funniest sequences in literature.

2. I am rereading Stormy Weather again
Skink cracks me up. I hear he is in the new one, but I haven't read it yet. I have to wait for the paperback.

is attacked by a "killer" Doberman and winds up trudging around Florida with with a dog's head attached to his wrist?

4. That's "Double Whammy"
I also thought the guy with the weed whacker for a hand was funny also in "Skintight".

5. He's got a thing for "prosthetics" on the villian's arm or hand...
...in addition to the weed wacker and the dog's head, there's the golf club in "Strip Tease"; the blue crab in "Lucky You".

Symbolism...is not my strong suit  let's discuss.

Could it be that these guys represent the developer "machines" that are ransacking Florida and its environment? Or the conflict between nature (the dog and the crab) and humans?
