I remember last week there was a pretty good thread on the premiere episode.
I thought tonight's was even better. It's really getting more into the characters but I love that they are not letting everything out except in dribs and drabs.
Actually i like that. I know that sounds weird but it adds to the effect. It reminds me of how television dramas used to be. A commercial break came and there was a combined feeling of relief from the tension, but also anticipation of wanting the show to start back up again.
Their hooks take a while to seep into the brain. But so far I like it.
My only gripe is the production. It's a little too up front, especially on the vocals. What I liked about Turn On The Bright Lights was the distant production that added to the moody vibe. That seems to be less prevalent on this one.
A minor complaint and other than that I like it so far.
That was the first thing I noticed, in fact. It bugged me less and less as I listened tho. It's still got that 'just slightly less despondant than Joy Division' feel to it, which is good. ;)
