D.C. Hates Bush With a Passion
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 12:30 AM by MrScorpio
I just back from a little jaunt to the District. I had a great time as expected. I ate at my favorite places, Attila's in Arlington and Ivy's Place on Connecticut. I hung out in Georgetown and scored three cool CDs and some nice comics.

Today would have been good day on any day.

But would really topped it off was the fact that i saw at least 20 Kerry/Edwards stickers on cars and trucks all over town, and hardly any Shrub/Puppetmaster ones.

I saw some young folks from the DNC signing up folks for donations right down on M Street and I even told one guy to check out DU.

When I was stuck in Dupont Circle traffic a guy handed me a Runners Against Bush sticker.

Plus, I cut off a couple of Republicans on I-95 and tossed them a flagrantly dispalyed middle-finger (Well no I didn't, but I wanted to).

I made back, safe and sound with nary a cop giving me any crap.

The thing that I noticed about D.C. is that, more than any other person before who has sat in the White House, the citizens of D.C. want Bush out of their town.

Again, today was truly a good day.

1. Glad to hear it, I can't wait to visit Washington when Kerry is office.
It will be very emotional, I'll cry my eyes out, I'm sure. To be surrounded by that much history, and to have victory on our side, will be one of the greatest moments of my life.

2. You ought to go to DC anyways
It's a great town, despite you know who.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that I visited my Late Uncle Joe at Arlington National Cemetary.

Hardly suprising, though. It's not like Bush was off to a good start: remember, Washingtonians pelted him with eggs as the limo raced to the White House on Inauguration Day!

4. Same thing here in Portland.
Every day, I go out for a walk by my office. There are quite a few lawn signs which say, "Kerry/Edwards". So far, I've only counted 2 that say "Bush/Cheney".

Dead heat, my ass.

5. Georgestown is awesome
Only problem is there's no subway that a way but I absolutely love it, I plan to transfer to GWU after a year or so of comm college.

8. There's a Subway in Georgetown
It's on M Street, across from the Georgetown Mall and they make great Mediterrean Subs.

Don't forget the Quick Pita joint that's close to it too.

9. there is?
eh I like where I was on the mall last week anyhow. It really was lovely, really a great experience, great people, great food, great entertainment, great everything. What line is it on? btw I generally use the orange line to get around. I wish I could go to DC again and hang out this weekend but me and my friend are going up to Philly to see Kerry speak at the IAD.

6. I played a cocktail hour at a downtown hotel
for the National Association of Manufacturers (you can well imagine their political leanings), and the four of us were tearing into Dumbyass between every number.

The heartening thing about it is that the cellist, who was a right-leaning moderate a couple of years ago, is now passionately anti-Dumbyass. I couldn't be more thrilled. :)

10. I'm offering 1000/1 on Bush winning the District of Columbia vs. Kerry
What a bargain, potential instant millionaire!! Send cash and plenty. Bonuses possible.

Ignore these numbers, the percentage at right a comparison to the national popular vote margin the last four elections:

District of Columbia:
'88: Dukakis (83.70 - 14.49) = + 76.93% Democrat
'92: Clinton (84.64 - 9.10) = + 69.98% Democrat
'96: Clinton (85.19 - 9.34) = + 67.32% Democrat
'00: Gore (85.16 - 8.95) = + 75.70% Democrat
