Rarely seen Monet goes on display
BBC News

One of Claude Monet's most important paintings has gone on public display for the first time in 100 years.

The Impressionist's painting of the Houses of Parliament is to be sold at Christie's in New York on 3 November.

The work, titled Londres, le Parlement, effet de soleil dans le brouillard, will be displayed at Christie's, in London, on Wednesday.

It is expected to fetch up to £10m at the Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale.

2. It does
Either that or the person who took the picture was a bit tilted.

3. Maybe related to the leaning tower of Pizza?
Monet's eyesight not too good at one stage in his life; loads of his "Waterlilies" pics also wonky and painted in strange colors...

4. Well, the slant of his signature leads me to believe
that he was left-handed (I'm sure this can be confirmed, I just don't feel like looking it up) and maybe if he doesn't overcompensate for that, his vertical lines lean to the left.

5. Monet is on of my favorite artists
but I'm glad I wasn't waiting 100 years to see this one!

Peace
