Drug store owner using to much of his product...
This little town has a whole lotta elderly people, so they can't really just drive up the road to get their medication at a cheaper place - so the local pharmacy jacks up the price. A few weeks ago we put a letter in the paper from a little old lady questioning why exactly drugs are more expenive here.
The local pharasave owner went A-1 batshit and pulled all his adverts from our paper for a year.
My publisher called him today - listen to his rational...
"Would you put a letter from neo-nazi skinheads in the paper?"
My Punlisher :"No."
Him "So! What's the difference."

Where the fuck do these pricks get their reasoning?

2. Quick question :
On the totem pole of pricks, is the neo-nazi skinhead above or below the cocksucker pharmacist that robs his sick neighbors ?

5. The guy sounds like a prick - BUT
Do you really expect a one-store small businessman to be able to match the prices of CVS and Walmart?

I've never heard of Pharmasave, but it is probably a distributor who he may HAVE to buy from to use their brands, cooperative advertising, Etc.

CVS and Walmart probably pay 30% less for every item that they carry than this guy. It is the difference between being able to buy directly from the manufacturer and having to go through a distributor.

Our small town's pharmacy costs more too, but it is worth it in terms of personal service and not having to drive 12 miles to a drug store.

So, before you call him a cocksucker that is robbing people, try walking a mile in his shoes. It is real tough being the little guy these days.

As far as the paper goes, he should not expect to have any editorial control. My local paper prints letters against my store every few months. It hasn't stopped me from advertising with them. A better solution would be for him to write a response to the letter, which I am sure the paper would print.

6. You do have a point.
He might just be a jerk. Or, he could have a reason for charging more.

If that is the case, he should write a letter to the paper explaining things, instead of pulling his advertising.

Our local pharmacy charges a bit more, too. But I prefer it over the big places.

7. Hey hey lives in Canada....
So I'm not sure if Pharmasave is a chain or a mom and pop. But I agree with you regarding CVS, et al. Between them and the insurance companies, the privately owned pharmacies are all but GONE here in the US. AND you are right about how tough it is to be the little guy these days. We try to support the neighborhood shops, whose prices remain competitive, despite fierce competition, and we wouldn't be caught dead in a wal-mart !

4. Well you really could gobsmack him
If somebody could volunteer a van and an occasional afternoon, then maybe they could trot the old geezers out to a different pharmacy to pick up their meds and other drugstore sundries.

His first clue would be when all his standing prescriptions suddenly had transfer requests.

If PharmaSave is a chain he may be fluffing his prices. A determined person could "expose" him.

9. Write an editorial for the paper.
"Dear readers, you may have noticed that XYZ Pharmacy no longer advertises in our fine paper..."
